Sand wasp, Ammophila sabulosa: a Digger wasp - one of the 110 UK Digger wasp species.

 Sand wasp, Ammophila sabulosa digging its nest in the sand at Thursley National Nature Reserve today.

She made repeated sorties carrying sand in her front legs away from her tunnel,  The nest will be stocked with paralysed prey (caterpillars perhaps) as food for her grubs.
